Snippets Playground GD

Hello again,

I was a lucky winner of a prize from Miss Di, Principal of Snippets Playground in the last couple of weeks and had a lovely email from Di asking if I would like to be a guest designer for the challenge this week. Thank you Di for the invitation and having me as the guest designer.

When I first started making paper based cards I had a lot of Scrap papers, given to me as a gift and looking around the web I came across Snippet's Playground full with ideas on how to use them to create beautiful cards, a super fun atmosphere and some of the mischievous comments from the girls in the playground kept me coming back for the cards and the giggles, I eventually began my own blog to keep me busy while I've been unable to work, finally plucking up the courage to join the ladies at Snippets Playground in October 2015.

I had been working on using some of the dies I had ordered from China and trying to clear off some of the snippety bits of paper consuming my desk. These two cards are going to be part of a gift for a friend who left the area unexpectedly, she used to buy cards from me quite regularly and said that she would miss my specially made designs.

These two cards started off as one 30x 10cm, I had a plan in mind for the thank you card and made this first, I cut the patterned paper into 2.5cm strips and layered them on to some brown card my neighbour gave me, then die cut the thank you die from white pearlescent card from my scrap box with some adhesive sheet attached, tracing around the outside of the die to get the narrow border around the outside, adding the butterfly die cut from another snippet of handmade yellow paper, before giving the butterfly a coat of clear Wink of Stella.

I then had the rectangle leftover and did not want to add this back to my stash, digging in to my scrap box again I found a peachy coloured paper that seemed to go well with the colours in the paper, some gold mirri card and the border strip from the spine of same paper pad, I cut the narrow stitched border from the gold card and used the strip from the spine  to cover the edges, ribbon didn't work on this one, using a scrap from the thank you card cut the other butterfly before stamping and sticking the butterfly down just the middle, finishing off with some stickles and liquid enamel.

What I used:-
White Card blanks 10.5 x 14.7cm
Scrap paper from Amy Tangerine paper pad 'Ready Set Go' and a print from the spine… I know who saves those???
